Oliver J. Bauer
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church for Oliver J. Bauer, 87, 1107 E. 6th, who died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he was transferred Saturday from a Topeka nursing home.
He was born May 24, 1890, in Topeka. He lived in the Delia community about 40 years before he returned to Topeka in 1942. He was a member of Assump¬tion Catholic Church.
Mr. Bauer had been a farmer and then worked for Santa Fe Railway be¬fore he retired in 1957.
His wife, Mrs. Alice M. Bauer, died May 9, 1972. A daughter, Marie Bauer, died in infancy and a son, Peter F. Bauer, died in March 1951. Another daughter, Mrs. Catherine Swickard Seale, died in December 1967.
Survivors include six sons, Orville B. Bauer, Las Vegas, Nev., Harold P. Bauer, Overland Park, Herschel F. Bauer, 2621 Washburn, Oliver J. Bauer Jr., 906 E. 34th, Eugene J. Bauer, 4014 Rochester Road, and Robert F. Bauer, 29 University Drive, Cullen Village; three daughters, Mrs. Hermia Hoffman, 418 Grattan, Sophia Maria Bauer, at home, and Mrs. Regina Shook, Co¬lumbia, S.C.; 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mr. Bauer will lie in state until 9 p.m. today at Brennan Fu¬neral Home where parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today
