Cancer fatal to J. Bahner

Services were held Thursday
from the Silver Lake United
Methodist Church for Jeffro
Bahner, 52, former Delia resident and Jackson County commissioner.
Mr. Bahner died Apr. 6 in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted Mar. 19, ill with cancer.
Born Dec. 26, 1918, north of Silver Lake, he had spent his life in the Delia and Silver Lake communities. Mr. Bahner was a farmer, and was active in 4-H work, serving as a Shaw¬nee County representative on the 4-H Fair Board.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Loyal Chapter No. 176, Order of Eastern Star, both at Silver Lake; Delia Lodge No. 419, AF&AM, the Delia Lions Club; Moose Lodge No. 555 in To¬peka; Harvest Grange in the Grove community.
He was married to the for¬mer Ora Lou Cantrell. She sur¬vives.
Other survivors include two sons: Jerrol P. Bahner, Topeka; and Kerry L. Bahner, Silver Lake; two brothers: Milton
Bahner, Rossville; Harvey Bah¬ner, Route 7, Topeka.
Four sisters: Mrs. Julia
Brees, Emmett; Mrs. Christine Zickefoose, Mrs. Elsie Rasch, both of Rossville; Mrs. Lorraine Billingsley, Topeka; and a granddaughter.
Delia Lodge No. 419, AF&AM, conducted graveside services' at Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake. Memorial contri¬butions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
