Mrs. Carrie Cerny Kovar
ROSSVILLE — Mrs. Carrie Cerny Kovar, 82, Rossville, died late Friday, Feb. 6, at a Rossville nursing home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1905, on a farm north of Rossville in Jackson County, a daughter of Thomas and Catherine Slansky Cerny. She spent all her life in the Rossville and Delia communities.
Mrs. Kovar was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Z.C.B.J. Moravan Lodge No. 128 more than 50 years, Golden Agers Club and a charter member of the Countryside Club, all at Rossville.
She was married to Emial Kovar Aug. 4, 1926, at her parents’ home northeast of Rossville. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Willard; a sister, Mrs. Helen Wickham, Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rossville Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Kovar will lie in state after 10 a.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys and an hour before service time at the church. The family will meet with friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church or Z.C.B.J. Moravan Lodge No. 128.
