Obituary- Kovar, Edd


Edd J. Kovar
Edd J. Kovar, 83, of Wenatchee, Wash., died Monday, January 16, 1989, in Colonial Vista Nursing Home following an extended illness.

He was born January 25, 1905, at Delia, to Paul and Frances Kovarik Kovar where he grew up and attended school, then worked on the family farm.

He married Selma Edwards at Topeka, on March 30, 1932, and they made their first home at Rossville, where he owned and operated a feed store and creamery. They moved to Wenatchee in 1941, where Mr. Kovar worked for Meadowmoor Dairy, then went to work managing two fruit orchards in, the Wenatchee Valley. In the early 1950s, he went to work at the Wells and Wade sheet metal shop until 1953, when he went to work at Van Doren Equipment. He retired in 1970.

Mr. Kovar was a member of Central Christian Church and was a past member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Selma, at home; one son, Duane Kovar, Spokane, WA; one daughter, Nancy Lightfield, Clarkston, WA; four brothers, George Kovar, Merriam, Emial Kovar, Rossville, Ben Kovar, Atchison, and Henry Kovar, Overland Park; one sister, Letha Olejnik, Delia; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Services were Friday at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Dick Davidson officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Telford's Chapel of the Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church or to the Parkinson's Foundation.
