Obituary- Kovar, Henry 1


Henry Homer Kovar
Henry Homer Kovar, 83, formerly of Topeka, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at an Overland Park nursing home.

Mr. Kovar was retired from the postal service where he was awarded a Superior Accomplishment Award at his retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had served in the South Pacific.

He was born June 21,1913, in Delia, the son of Paul and Frances Kovarik Kovar. He had lived in Rossville, Chicago, Wenatchee, Wash., and Overland Park, as well as Topeka.

Mr. Kovar was a 50-year member of Orient Lodge No. 51 AF&AM and the ZCBJ Lodge at Rossville. He also was a member of Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in Overland Park.

He was married to Jarmilla Mitcha on March 30, 1946, in Topeka. She died Oct. 25, 1996.

Survivors include a brother, Emial Kovar, Rossville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial with Masonic graveside services conducted by Lodge No. 51 AF&AM will be at Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka. Mr. Kovar will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, 66604
