Joseph E. Macha
Joseph E. “Joe” Macha, 81, Delia, died Friday, March 1, 1996, at the Presbyterian Manor, Topeka, where he had been for a year.
He was born June 11, 1914 on a farm near Delia, the son of Anton and Francis Novasad Macha. He had lived in the Delia community all of his life, until he moved to the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
He was a farmer and stockman. As a child, he attended the Czech Church south of Delia. He was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Delia Grade School Board of Education and was treasurer of the Board for several years. He was a charter member of the Delia Lions Club, and was a member of the ZCJB Lodge.
He was married to Vernadell Bixby February 22, 1944, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Bob Macha, Delia, Garry Macha, Topeka, and Dan Macha, Philadelphia, Pa., one sister, Florence Tuller, Rossville; and seven grandchildren.
A family visitation was held from 6:30 until 8:00 Monday evening at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home; a prayer service began at 7:45. His funeral service is at 2:00 Tuesday (this afternoon) at the Delia Presbyterian Church; interment will be in the Czech Moravan Cemetery, southeast of Delia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Disease Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.

DELIA — Joseph E. "Joe” Macha, 81, formerly of Delia, died Friday, March 1, 1996, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Macha was a farmer and stockman in the Delia area until he retired.
He was born June 11, 1914, on a farm near Delia, the son of Anton and Francis Novasad Macha. He lived most his life at Delia.
Mr. Macha was a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He also was a member of the ZCJB Lodge and the Delia Grade School Board, where he served as treasurer for several years. He was a charter member of the Delia Lions Club.
He was married to Vernadell Bixby on Feb. 22, 1944, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Bob Macha, Delia, Garry Macha, Topeka, and Dan Macha, Philadelphia; a sister, Florence Tuller, Rossville; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Delia Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Czech Moravan Cemetery southeast of Delia. Mr. Macha will lie in state after 2 p.m. Monday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys where relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
