Obituary- Magill, Margaret 1

MRS. MAGILL PASSES OVER
Dies at Rossville at the Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. Hook

With the death, Monday morning, April 10, 1916, of Mrs. Margaret Magill, widow of the late Dr. A. G. Magill, there passed away another link which unites Silver Lake to its past. The end came at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. P. Hook, at Rossville, at the ripe age of 87.

When Mrs. Magill remained at Rossville all winter and spring her friends here knew it was because she was too feeble in body to come home. She loved her home here and not of her own free will would she remain away from it long at a time. Though sons and daughters were willing to care for her, she preferred to live in her own house, though in solitude.

But all winter she had been failing in health, and her friends knew her end was near.

Here she lived next door to Mrs. Hannah Oliver, whose death early in the winter removed perhaps the oldest inhabitant of this city.

Mrs. Margaret E. Magill was the daughter of Miles and Ann Sweeney. She was born at Middleton, Del., May 9, 1828, being the second of a family of nine children, surviving all of them.

While a child her parents moved to Mercer, Pa. She was graduated from Meadville seminary. She married John P. Kelly June 5, 1855, moving to Linn county, Kansas, and afterward to Tipton, Mo., where Mr. Kelly died. Later she married Dr. A. G. Magill of Tipton, Mo. They moved to Silver Lake in 1879. Dr. Magill died February 28, 1910.
