Obituary- Major, D.W.

D. W. MAJOR DEAD
D. W. Major, 1234 Rural, died at 9 o’clock Saturday morning in Detroit, Mich., where he had been visiting his twin daughters. Misses Mildred and Melba Majors.

The body will be brought to Emporia and is expected to arrive at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Funeral arrangements have not been made.

Mr. Major’s death was sudden; though he had been slightly sick earlier in the week. He and Mrs. Major drove to Detroit two weeks ago with their daughters, who teach in Detroit. They had expected to return home early next week.

D. W. Major this month completed 13 years of service in the correspondence department of the Teachers college. He was 76 years old.—Emporia Gazette

Rossville friends of the deceased gentleman are sorry to learn of his passing. Mr. Major served as Superintendent of the Rossville schools until about 1921. Mrs. Major also was a member of the faculty as instructor in the music department. Beside his widow and the twin daughters, he is survived by another daughter, Ruth.
