Obituary- Manbeck, D. Keith

D. Keith Manbeck
Rossville -- D. Keith Manbeck, 79, died Saturday, October 14,
2006 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born October 22, 1926 at Bavaria, Kansas, the son of Charles E. and Ethel Mae Houser Manbeck. He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1944.

Mr. Manbeck was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years as an agent-telegrapher. Keith was also a "Certified Master Watchmaker" having graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking in September 1955. He was a "Combat" Veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army, 25th Div. 27th Infantry. He was discharged in July 1953 as a Sgt. 1st Class.

He was a life member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, Rossville, a life member of the VFW, Topeka, and a member of the American Watchmakers Institute.

Mr. Manbeck was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother Charles Manbeck.

On September 13, 1953 he was united in marriage to Ruth Hanson at Waterville, KS. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Mike and his wife Cathy Manbeck, Rossville; two grandsons, Shane and Cole; a sister-in-law, Lois Manbeck, Chapman; a brother-in-law, Harold Hanson and wife Lois, Dubuque, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Manbeck will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30. Military Graveside serves will be conducted by Ft. Riley.
