Obituary- Manis, Otis

Otis Manis
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ted Tibbitts Mortuary for Otis B. Manis, 61, 2200 Gage, who died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he was readmitted Nov. 28. He had been ill several years.

He was born Feb. 14, 1916, in McPherson County, the son of Everette and Lena Manis. He lived in Topeka from 1946 to 1960 when he moved to California. He returned to Topeka in 1970.

Mr. Manis was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army from Nov. 2,1942, until Feb. 7,1946.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Penny Longmuir, Mrs. Peggy McMesters, and Mrs. Pattie Wallis, all in California; six brothers, Leo Manis, 528 Oakland, Harold Manis, 1601 E. 10th, Melvin Manis, 523 Winfield, Wayne Manis, 208 Klein, Lowell Manis, Auburn, and Marvin Manis, Meriden; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Simecka, St. Marys, and Mrs. Ruby Heston, 1737 Hudson; a foster brother, Joe Manis, Fort Smith, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Gardens west of Topeka. Mr. Manis will lie in state at the mortuary until 2 p.m. Thursday after which the casket will remain closed.
