Obituary- Marney, Robert 1

Robert W. Marney
ROSSVILLE — Robert W. Marney, 65, Rossville, died Friday, Oct. 26, 1993, at the home of a friend in Rossville.

Mr. Marney was a truck driver for Frisbie Bridge Construction Co. in Topeka from 1957 until he retired in 1991. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1947.

He was born Aug 10, 1928, in Rossville, the son of Theodore S. and Frances Mae Kirkpatrick Marney, and spent most of his life in Rossville.

Mr. Marney was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.

He was married to Phyllis Smith Jan. 31, 1951, in Rossville. She survives.

Other survivors include a stepson, Frederick E. Elevier, Silver Lake, a brother, Kenneth J. Marney, Rossville; two sisters, Deloris Ward, Delia, and Ruth Hause, Hartsburg, Mo.; and a stepgrandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Marney will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today.


Robert W. Marney
Robert W. Marney, 65, Rossville, died Friday, October 29, 1993, near his home.

He was born August 10, 1928, at Rossville, the son of Theodore S. and Frances Mae Kirkpatrick Marney.

January 31, 1951, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Smith at Rossville. She survives.

Mr. Marney was a truck driver with Frisbie Bridge Construction Company in Topeka from 1957 until he retired in 1991. He was a lifetime resident of the Rossville community except for the time he served in the U.S. Navy, January 9, 1946 through November 13, 1947. He was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion at Rossville.

Other survivors include a stepson, Frederick E. Elevier, Silver Lake; a brother, Kenneth J. Marney, Rossville; two sisters, Deloris Ward, Delia, and Ruth Hause, Hartsburg, Mo.; and a stepgrandchild.

Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Verschelden Chapel, St. Marys. Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday (this morning) at Verschelden Chapel. Military graveside service was conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post #31, American Legion, at the Rossville Cemetery.
