MARSHALL
Laurence Lee “Larry” Marshall, 81, St. Marys, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009 at the Rossville Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 28, 1928, at Mayetta, the son of Robert Luther and Jessie May Magers Marshall. Mr. Marshall grew up in the Delia and Emmett communities and graduated from Emmett High School in 1947.

Larry served in the Army National Guard and was called to active duty during the Korean War. After being discharged from the military he returned to the Emmett community and began farming, where he was a farmer and stockman all of his life. Mr. Marshall was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.

Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rose Frost on Oct. 12,1979, and a granddaughter, Angela J. Persons on Dec. 16, 1999.

On Oct. 3,1950, he was united in marriage to Victoria Ann Rezac. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Pam Hays, Rossville; two sons, Stanley (Doris) Marshall, El Dorado, and Larry D. (Kristi) St. Marys; a sister, Roberta Las well, Emmett; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with two on the way.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 4, at the Emmett United Methodist Church.

Interment, with military graveside services conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, was in St. Clere Cemetery, Emmett.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmett United Methodist Church or Heart of America Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, KS 66536.
