Obituary- Martin, Jimmy

Jimmy Martin
Services were June 6, at Christ The King Cathedral in Lubbock, Tex., for Jimmy Martin, 78, Lubbock, Tex. He died June 3, 1995, at a Lubbock hospital.
Mr. Martin owned and operated Dairy Queen restaurants in Lubbock, Lamesa and Brownfield, all in Texas. He was an Army Air Corps pilot instructor during World War II.
He was born March 23, 1917, at Maple Hill. He was graduated from Rossville High School, and had lived in Lubbock since 1949.
Mr. Martin was a member of Christ The King Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus. He had served on the boards of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators Council, Christ The King Catholic School Foundation, the Sierra Club, the Red Raider Club, and the Hillcrest Country Club.
He was married to Mae Depui May 15, 1941, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Michael T. Martin, Lubbock, Tex.; two daughters, Cynthia Holliday, Dallas, Tex., and Patty Martin, Lubbock, Tex.; two brothers, Ray Martin, Topeka, and Donald Martin, Rossville; two sisters, Bonnie VandeVelde, Rossville, and Nona Halton, Eufaula, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ The King Catholic School Foundation or to the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, both in Lubbock, Tex. Rix Funeral Directors in Lubbock were in charge of arrangements.
