Obituary- Martin, Robert B.

Robert Burns Martin Sr.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Robert Burns Martin Sr., 67, Kansas City, formerly of Rossville, Kan., died Wednesday, March 28, 1990, at his home.
Mr. Martin was a telephone repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. before he retired.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Central Pacific. He had received the China War Memorial award.
He was born Jan. 12, 1923, In Rossville, Kan., the son of John Stanley and Viola Mary Burns Martin.
Mr. Martin was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America in Topeka and Communication Workers of America and was a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah K. Martin, San Jose, Calif., and Christina Calvert, Shawnee; a son, Robert B. Martin Jr., Grandview, Mo.; his father, John S. Martin, Rossville; two sisters, Bonnie VandeVelde, Kansas City, Kan., and Nona Haltom, Lawton, Okla.; three brothers, James Martin, Lubbock, Texas, and Donald Martin and Raymond Martin, both of Topeka; and a granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Carson Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
