Mrs. Viola M. Martin
Mrs. Viola M. Martin, 90, Rossville, died late Monday at a Topeka hospital.

She was born June 6, 1892, at Rossville, the daughter of Joseph and Julia Navarre Burns, and spent her life in the Rossville community.

Mrs. Martin was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville and the Altar Society at the church. She also was a member of the auxiliary to Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.

She was married to John S. Martin Sept. 16, 1916, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie R. VandeVelde, Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Nona A. Halton, Eufaula, Okla.; five sons, James I. Martin, Lubbock, Texas, John S. Martin Jr., Howard, Robert B. Martin, Rossville, Raymond L. Martin, 2832 W. 19th, Topeka, and Donald D. Martin, at home; a brother, Raymond Burns, Holton; 34 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys.
