Wallace Reid Martin
Wallace Reid Martin, 72, Topeka, died early Thursday morning, July 20, 1995, at his home. He was born July 11, 1923, in Willard, the son of Henry and Edith Burns Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers — Ralph “Mastermine” Martin and Paul “Mook” Martin.
Mr. Martin graduated from Rossville High School in 1942. He was a heavy equipment opera¬tor and had been employed by Hamm Construction and Meier Construction.
Mr. Martin was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Topeka; Citizen Band Potawatomi Tribe of Oklahoma; and a 25- year member of Local 101 Operators and Engineers.
He was married to Ila Sue Eakin Cottle September 22, 1968, at Jefferson City, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Michael R. Martin, Kansas City, Mo., the Rev. Anthony “Tony” W. Martin, Beaver Falls, Pa., and Thomas A. Martin, At¬lanta, Ga.; three daughters, Renae L. Ely, Ileta M. Bray and Nanette A. Martin, all of Topeka; a brother, Charles Martin, Silver Lake; six sisters, Olive Beard, Neosho, Mo., Edna DeVader, Holton, Gladys Immenschuh, Augusta, Doris McGee, Roger- son, Ida., Betty Gibson, Topeka, and Catherine DeVader, Delia: 18 grandchildren; one great-grand daughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friend from 7:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, where a parish rosary was recited at 6:30.
His funeral service was at; 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Anthony W. Martin officiating. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
