Obituary- Martinek, Agnes A. 1

Agnes A. Martinek

ROSSVILLE -- Agnes A. Martinek, 88 Rossville, died Thursday, March 24, 1994, at a Rossville nursing home.

She was born Sept. 12, 1905, north of Rossville, the daughter of Frank and Tressie Hejtmanek Hromada.

Mrs. Martinek was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church, Grove Extension Homemaker Unit and a 50-year member of the ZCBJ Lodge in Rossville.

She was married to William M. Martinek on Sept. 8, 1926, in Topeka. He died Sept. 14, 1981. She also was precede in death by a son, William D. Martinek, Feb. 26, 1989, and a great-grandson, Jeremy Martinek, in June 1989.

Survivors include a daughter , Louise Redmon, Emmett; two sons, Orville Martinek, Silver Lake, and Robert Martinek, Las Cruces, N.M.: 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Czech-Moravan Cemetery north of Rossville. Mrs. Martinek will lie in state after noon today at the Verschelden Funeral Chapel in St. Mary and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Valley Manor, Rossville.

She was born September 12, 1905, north of Rossville, the daughter of Frank and Tressie Hejtmanek Hromada.

She was married to William M. Martinek September 8, 1926, in Topeka. He died September 14, 1981.

Mrs. Martinek was a homemaker. She was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church; a former member of Grove Extension Homemakers Unit; and a 50-year member of ZCBJ Lodge in Rossville.

She lived all her life in the Rossville, Silver Lake, and Delia communities.

Surviving her are a daughter, Louise Redmon, Emmett; two sons, Orville Martinek,. Silver Lake, and Robert Martinek, Las Cruces, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son William D. Martinek, on February 26,1989, and a great-grandson, Jeremy Martinek, in June 1989.

The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Verschelden Funeral Home. Her service was at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Czech-Moravan Cemetery north of Rossville.

Memorials to Rossville Valley Manor, Rossville 66533, are suggested by the family.
