Charlotte A. Bixby
ROSSVILLE — Charlotte A. Bixby, 87, Rossville, died Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at her home.
Mrs. Bixby and her husband farmed in the Rossville area.
She was born July 13, 1908, at Soldier, the daughter of Michael B. and Elizabeth A. Salisbury Hurla. She had lived at Ross¬ville since 1930.
Mrs. Bixby was a member of St. Stanis¬laus Catholic Church at Rossville and the altar society at the church. She also was a member of the Country Side Club at Ross¬ville.
She married Oscar H. Bixby on Nov. 25, 1930, at Delia. He died April 20, 1992. A
granddaughter, Joyce Jenssen, died Aug. 3, 1963.
Survivors include four daughters, Teresa Miller, Delia, Genevieve Jenssen, Patricia Bixby and Betty Hinterweger, all of Ross¬ville; five sisters, Buelah Curran, Lecompton, Monica McCarter, Carbondale, Eliza¬beth Seematter, Beattie, and Mary Bridges and Regina Riddle, both of Topeka; a brother, Bernard Hurla, Paxico; 12 grand¬children; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrat¬ed at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville. Burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Bixby will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made either to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Building Fund or to Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville and sent in care of the funeral home.
