Obituary- Maus, John

John E. Maus
John E. Maus, 76, Topeka, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at his home.

Mr. Maus was a service technician for Ed Marlings for 25 years before he retired in 1983. He later owned and operated John's Appliance Service until 1989. He served in the 200th Army Air Force Base Unit in Colorado Springs, Colo., during World War II.

He was born March 25, 1923, at Auburn, the son of John and Maude Chiddix Maus. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1941.

Mr. Maus was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion. He was known as "Trouble Shooter" on Citizens Band radio.

He married Catherine Leonard on Sept. 1, 1951, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, James E. Maus, Topeka; a daughter, Christine M. Phelon, Topeka; two sisters, Mary Jones, Wheatridge, Colo., and Thelma McCoy, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Maus will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
