Obituary- McClain, Samuel

McClain
Samuel Henry McClain, 92, Soldier, died July 28, 1991, at a Holton nursing home.

He was born June 17, 1899 at Delia, the son of James Henry and Matilda Eiserman McClain.

He had lived most of his life in the Soldier community where he was a farmer and stockman.

He was married to Murrell Iva Rader, Nov. 13, 1928. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1969. He married Florence M. Starr in 1973. She preceded him in death on June 25, 1990. He was also preceded in death by one infant son, Harry McClain and one stepson Glenn Rader; six sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter, Marlene Mattox, Eudora; and three stepdaughters, Lula Piercy and Verna Nauyok, both of Lenexa, and Lois Buckner, Overland Park; two sons, Thomas McClain, Kansas City, Kan., and Merlen McClain, Onaga; one sister, Mymah McClain, Glendale, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Mercer Funeral Home, Holton. Burial will be in the Delia Cemetery, Delia. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, July 31 at the funeral home.
