E.L. ‘Mac’ McDowell
E.L. “Mac” McDowell, of Topeka, passed away Nov. 28,2013. Mac was born May 16,1934, son of R.V. and Margaret McDowell. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mac was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and retired from ABF Freight Systems after 30-plus years in the freight industry.
Mac married Judy Phillips on Dec. 2,1956. She preceded him in death in 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents and only sibling, Marilyn Harlow. Mac is survived by his sons, Kevin McDowell and wife Ann of Topeka, and Craig McDowell and wife Julie of Rossville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Dec. 3, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family requests donations to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 and Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.
