Obituary- McGuire, Marlin
Marlin Joe McGuire
Marlin Joe McGuire, 68, Topeka, died Tuesday, July 23, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. McGuire and his father operated McGuire Sewer Service. He later worked for Geo Kuehne Plumbing. He worked 27 years for the City of Topeka, where he was maintenance engineer of the City Auditorium. He was maintenance engineer for Stormont-Vail hospital when he retired in 1983. He was an Army veteran of World War II and participated in the bombing of Hiroshima with the 39th Bombardment Squadron.
He was born March 2, 1923, at Berryton, the son of William Moses and Buelah Mae Ready McGuire. He lived in Topeka most of his life.
He was married to Frances A. Shelton Sept. 16, 1944, in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Diana Marie Diggs, Netawaka, and Joan Eileen Deiter, Gloria Elaine Beeghly and Edith Faye Sieve, all of Topeka; two sons, John Allen McGuire, Topeka, and Michael Joe McGuire, Pine Bluff, Ark.; four sisters, Fern McCoy and Barbara Sewell, both of Topeka, Lucille Fenstermacher, Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Clara Culbertson, Grantville; two brothers, William F. McGuire and Bob McGuire, both of Topeka; and 17 grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Military graveside services will be conducted by Philip Billard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1650 in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marlin McGuire Memorial Fund, to be designated at a later time by the family, and left at the funeral home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka KS 66608.
