Gordon McLin
Gordon McLin, 87, Silver Lake, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.

He was born October 10,1910, at Silver Lake, the son of James Grant and Georgia Ann Hauha McLin, and lived in the Silver Lake area all of his life.

Mr. McLin graduated from Silver Lake High School and attended Strickler’s Business College in Topeka. He was engaged in farming, and also worked for Grove Township. Mr. and Mrs. McLin owned and operated the Grove Country Store from 1948 to 1963; and owned the I.G.A. store at Delia from 1963 to 1968.

Mr. McLin was a member of the Delia Lions Club and the Grove Harvest Grange.

He was united in marriage to Mary P. Mongold on October 31, 1937, at Beattie. She survives.

He is also survived by one son, Marshall McLin, Silver Lake; two grandchildren and two great- granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wattis McLin, and two sisters, Ethel McLin and Ruby Moser.

The family received friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. His service was at 11:00 Saturday morning at the mortuary; burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery near Grove, in Shawnee County.

SILVER LAKE — Gordon McLin, 87, Silver Lake, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. McLin and his wife owned and operated, the Grove Country Store from 1948 to 1963 and the IGA Store at Delia from 1963 to 1968. He also farmed and had worked for the Grove Township.

He was born Oct. 10, 1910, at Silver Lake, the son of James Grant and Georgia Ann Huaha McLin. He was graduated from Silver Lake High School and attended Strickler’s Business College in Topeka. He was a life-long resident of the Silver Lake area.

Mr. McLin was a member of the Delia Lions Club and Grove Harvest Grange.

He was married to Mary P. Mongold on Oct. 31, 1937, at Beattie. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Marshall McLin, Silver Lake; two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery at Grove. Mr. McLin will lie in state after 10 a.m. Friday at the mortuary where relatives and, friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
