Abca Hope Meade
Abca Hope Meade, 85, Rossville, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at her home in Rossville.

She was born August 5, 1918, in Rossville, the daughter of Walter and Ida Lorannie “Rena” Marney Patton and had lived in Rossville all of her life.

She graduated from Rossville High School, and beauty college in Manhattan. She was a beauty operator in Rossville and in Topeka. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Rossville before she retired. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville, and a member of the Citizen Band Potawatomi Nations of Shawnee, OK.

On June 4, 1940, she was married to Charles Meade in St. Marys. He survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Charles Meade, Jr., Rossville; two sisters, Nora Dell Foresman, St. Marys, and Eileen St. Louis, Topeka; a granddaughter and a grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Preceding her in death are a grandson, Dwight Meade, in July 1971; her parents; brothers Osto, Kermit and Pete Patton; and sisters Donic Parr and Juanita Foresman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial will be in the Rossville Cemetery.

She will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
