Obituary- Melenson, Nannie
MRS. NANNIE MELENSON
Nannie C. Roberson was born in Yocum, Kentucky, March 12, 1894. She died at her home in Rossville, Tuesday morning, December 31st, 1935, at the age of 41 years, 9 months and 18 days.
She came to Kansas in 1912 and lived in and near Holton. She was married to Joe I. Melenson on November 4, 1914. To this union two daughters were born. For the last few years she has lived in and around Rossville.
She united with the First Baptist church of Holton in 1919, and through the years kept a bright faith in her Heavenly Father. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge also at Holton.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three sisters and one brother. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Joe I. Melenson, and two daughters, Minona and Josephine, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Dyer, Mayetta, Mrs. Arra Adams, Soldier and Mrs. Edna Reed, Maple Hill; two brothers, Floyd Roberson, North Topeka, and John Roberson, of Soldier; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Melenson was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a friend to everyone who knew her.
She is gone, but not forgotten
Ne’er shall her memory fade.
Sweet thoughts shall ever linger
Round the place where she is laid.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Rossville Thursday afternoon, Jan 2, conducted by Rev. Horton. Music was furnished by a quartette of ladies, Mrs. Minnie Navarre, Viola Strimple, Lorene Parr and Mrs. Horton. The pall bearers were Leonard Bolin, W. E. Ellis, Dave Lambert, Fred Mason, M. L. Whearty, J. W. Cless.
Burial was in the Walnut Hill cemetery.
