Obituary- Meyer, Sr., Clarence

Clarence W. Meyer
Clarence W. Meyer, 86, St. Marys, died Monday, April 6, 1992, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka.

Mr. Meyer farmed in the Sandy Hook area until he retired in 1969. He moved to St. Marys in 1964, because of ill health.

He was born January 4, 1906, north of St. Marys, the son of John Henry and Catherine Seitz Meyer. Mr. Meyer was the last of 14 children.

He graduated from St. Marys Grade School and attended high school at St Mary’s College.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #657, St. Marys, Past President of Pottawatomie County Farmers Union, Past member for many years of the Tri-County Drainage Board, served on the Board of Directors for Farmers Union Co-operative Business Association, St. Marys.

He married Laverne Irene Tucker on May 25, 1928 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Clarence W. “Bill” Meyer, St. Marys; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Meyer will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Verschelden Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church air-conditioning fund, St. Marys.
