Obituary- Meyer, J. Henry
HENRY MEYER DEAD
J. H. Meyer aged 67 years, 5 months
and 26 days, passed away Wednesday
July 30, at 11 o’clock at his home on
North Main street after a lingering illness dating since January. Mr. Meyer underwent an operation a few months ago and later was confined to his bed when heart complications developed.
He was one of Rossville townships prosperous farmers, having moved to Rossville about three years ago after the sale of his farm interests west of Rossville. A year or so ago and 26 days passed away Wednesday, he invested in lands northeast of Rossville and had plans under way for building new improvements when his health gave way.
Mr. Meyer was born in Damma, Oldenberg, Germany, February 5th, 1862. In the spring of 1881 he came to America and located in the vicinity of St. Marys. On April 17, 1888, he was married to Catherine Seitz, in Immaculate Conception church at St. Marys. Fourteen children were born to this union. Two children died in infancy and the twelve, who with the widow, survive to mourn his loss, are: Mrs. H. C. Germonprez and Mrs. Ernest Reser, St. Marys; Mrs. H. R. Immenschuh, Silver Lake; Mrs. E. F. Gillgannon, Delia; Misses Catherine Leona, William and Clarence of Rossville; J. C. Meyer and J. B. Meyer, Manhattan; Mrs. Gleason and Miss Rose Meyer, Topeka. There are two sisters and one brother residing in Germany.
The funeral mass will be sung in Immaculate Conception church at St. Marys, Friday at 10 o’clock and the body interred in the St. Marys Catholic cemetery.
The pall bearers will be Messrs. S R. Santee, Achille Ronsse, Julius Immenschuh, Joseph Lenherr, T. J Byrnes and Joe Reding.
