William Mitchell Sr.
ROSSVILLE—William G. “Bill" Mitchell Sr., 76, Rossville, died Tuesday, May 14,2002, at his home.

Mr. Mitchell was a farmer in Delia.

He was born Nov. 9,1925, at Delia, the son of Earl C. and Clara E. Mahon Mitchell. He grew up in the Delia community, attended Stach School and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1944. He lived in the Delia community until moving to Rossville about two years ago.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville.

He married Gertrude Dennis on April 26,1948, at Alma. She survives of the home.

Survivors also include two daughters, Patricia Saracyewski, Topeka; and Donna Conley, Hoyt; three sons, William Mitchell Jr„ Meriden, Dennis Mitchell, Harrodsburg, Ky., and Christopher Mitchell, Delia; a sister, Maureen Wilson, O’Fallon, Ill.; a brother, Jack Mitchell, Delia; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Ray Mitchell, in 1950.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church building fund, which may be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
