Obituary- Mongold, Ollie

Ollie “Maxine” Mongold
Ollie “Maxine” Mongold, 75, Silver Lake, died early Tuesday morning, February 18, 2003, at her home in Silver Lake.

She was born November 24, 1927, in Maple Hill, the daughter of Omer Franklin and Bertha Leah Price Hixon.

She graduated from Highland Park High School, and had resided in Grove Township, north of Silver Lake, since 1951.

She was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, and had been a volunteer on the Funeral Dinner Committee at the church.

She was an exercise instructor for the Silver Lake Senior citizens, Inc. for several years. She was also a Red Cross volunteer. She served on the Board of Directors for Grove Township since 1952, where she worked on the Election Board for the Township.

On March 20, 1948, she married Homer D. Mongold in Lawrence. He survives.

She is also survived by two sisters, Ninabel Hauschild, Mayer,

I AZ, and Violet Hixon, Topeka; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Sidney Dale “Sid” Mongold, on October
12, 1986.

Her service was at 2 p.m. Friday at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove, Shawnee County.

The family received friends Thursday evening at the Parker- Price Mortuary in Topeka.

Ollie Mongold
SILVER LAKE — Ollie “Maxine" Mongold, 75,
Silver Lake, died Tuesday, Feb. 18,2003, at her home.

Mrs. Mongold was an exercise instructor for Silver Lake Senior Citizens Inc. for several years and she had been a Red Cross volunteer.

She was born Nov. 24,1927, in Maple Hill, to Omer Franklin and Bertha Leah Price Hixon. She graduated from Highland Park High School and had lived in the Grove Township north of Silver Lake since 1951.

Mrs. Mongold was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church and the funeral dinner committee at the church. She served on the board of directors for Grove Township since 1952 and also worked on the election board for the township.

She married Homer D. Mongold on March 20, 1948, in Lawrence. He survives.

Other survivors include two sisters, Ninabel Hauschild, Mayer, Ariz., and Violet Hixon, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Mongold was preceded in death by a son, Sidney Dale “Sid” Mongold, on Oct. 12, 1986.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Shawnee County. Mrs. Mongold will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka after 2:30 p.m. Thursday, where visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
