Obituary- Murren, Asa

Asa D. Murren
Asa Duane “Ace” Murren, 65, Topeka, died Saturday, January 8, 2000, at his home.

He was born August 26, 1934, in Delia, to Asa Alfred and Hazel Iva Wilson Murren.

He graduated from Berryton High School in 1953. He worked at Topeka Goodyear Plant for 42 years, and retired June 1,1996.

He served in the Army from January 2, 1957, to December 23, 1958, and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.

He attended Grace United Methodist Church and was a mem¬ber of Moose Lodge No. 555, Goodyear Post No. 2187 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens. He was an active volunteer in Jayhawk Area Council of Boy Scouts of America.

Ace was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, AF& AM, Scottish Rite bodies, Arab Shrine, Trinity Shrine No. 7 of the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Topeka Chapter No. 462, Order of Eastern Star. He was president of Arab Shrine’s DeMolay Knights Unit.

He was an adult leader for the International Order of Job’s Daughters and was a past associate grand guardian of Bethel Chapter No. 58 of Job’s Daughters in Topeka.

He married Ida Louise Bleidissel February 8, 1959, in Topeka. She died January 16,1993. A son, David D. Murren, died September 8,1989.

Survivors include a companion, Susan Segelquist, Topeka; a son, Mark Alan Murren, Topeka; a daughter, Bev Lawson, Tecumseh; a brother, Leroy Vern Murren, Overbrook; a sister, Doloris Irene Gardner, Midwest City, OK; and four grandchildren.

His service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, followed by Rose Croix services conducted by Topeka Scottish Rite bodies and a tribute by the International Order of Job's Daughters. Burial was in Topeka Cemetery. Relatives and friends met from 6:30 to 7:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Chargers and sent in care of the Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens, 2701 Randolph, Topeka, KS 66611, or to the Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment Fund, and sent in care of Judy Dickson, 311NE 10th, Abilene, KS 67410.
