William E. LeBlanc
ST. MARYS - Wm. E. LeBlanc 80, was killed, Friday, July 15, 2011 in a farm accident on the farm he lived on most of his life doing what he loved to do.

He was born January 13,1931 at St. Marys, the son of Wm. & Lucille Longtin LeBlanc. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1948.

Bill enlisted with the 174th MP unit of the St. Marys National Guard in 1948 and was activated to Ft. Sheridan, IL. He concluded his enlistment with the National Guard in 1962 as a 2nd Lt.

Mr. LeBlanc was employed by John Hardman Lumber Company, St. Marys, Kaw Lumber Company, and Whelan's Lumber Company both in Topeka, from 1951 to 1969. He retired from Payless Lumber Company in 1994 with 25 years of service. He owned and operated a cattle operation for many years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and Knights of Columbus Council No 657 at the church. He had been a past member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville.

He was preceded in death by two children, Renee LeBlanc, April 18,1975 and Rex (Peggy) LeBlanc, Nov. 21,1995. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lila Frommelt, in 2003 and a brother, Francis "Mick" LeBlanc, in 2010.

He was united in marriage to Nadine Heder at Holy Family Catholic Church in Alma on February 14,1953. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, William J. (Suzanne) LeBlanc, St. Marys, Shelly LeBlanc, Maple Hill, and David LeBlanc, St. Marys; four grandchildren, Rachel Wahl, Jesse Brown, Philip LeBlanc and Shannon LeBlanc; two great-grandchildren, Adalynn Brown and Calvan Wayne Brown; four sisters, Agnes Montgomery and Theresa Simon, both of Topeka, Rita Jones, Walkersville, MD. and Reva Wheeler, Canyon City, CO; a brother, Richard LeBlanc, Topeka.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary CemŽetery, St. Marys. Mr. LeBlanc will lie in state after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where there will be a Prayer Vigil/Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, St. Marys Museum or Immaculate Conception Youth Group and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 W. Maple St., St. Marys, KS. 66536.
