Mrs. Mary B. Lewman
Mrs. Mary B. Lewman, 72, Topeka, died Wednesday, July 1, 1987, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Topeka police said Mrs. Lewman suffered injuries to the head and the left side of her torso when her car and a pickup truck collided at a southeast Topeka intersection. Dr. Roman Hiszczynskyj, Shawnee County district coroner, said Mrs. Lewman died as a result of multiple injuries.

Mrs. Lewman was the cafeteria supervisor at Highland Park High School for several years and had worked several years at Capital Federal Savings and Loan.

She was born Feb. 1, 1915, on a farm between Netawaka and Whiting, the daughter of Algie A. and Nellie Linneman Spiker. She lived in the Netawaka community until 1950 when she moved to Topeka.

Mrs. Lewman was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

She married Leroy W. Lewman June 26, 1934, at Holton. He survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cora Ann Harkins, Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Rhonda Culp, Wamego; two sons, Richard Lewman, Delia, and Charles Lewman, Minatare, Neb.; a brother, Henry Spiker, Horton; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Netawaka Cemetery. Mrs. Lewman will lie in state from 4 p.m. today until 11:30 am. Friday at Tibbitts-Griffin Highland Chapel and from noon until 1:30 p.m. Friday when the casket will be closed at the church. The family will meet with friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 Michigan, Topeka, 66605.
