Kahn Leroy Lortscher
(December 6,1913 - March 11, 2013)
Kahn Leroy Lortscher, 99, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away
on March 11, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home. He was born near Bern, Kansas on December 6, 1913 the son of Adolph and Olive Spring Lortscher. He graduated from Bern High School, Kemper Military School and then attended Nebraska University. The joys of his life were twofold - family and sports. Kahn married Mary Showman on November 19, 1938 in Sabetha, Kansas. Their children were Judy, Janet and Alan. He was involved in farming as well as several other businesses in Sabetha. He was a member of the Sabetha United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Kahn played football and basketball throughout school. At Nebraska University he played football. He was an avid golfer, bowled, enjoyed bridge - if not participating in a sport, he was definitely watching at least one on TV. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Bobby and Carl, his son Alan Kahn and wife Mary. He is survived by his children, Judy & (Larry) Ross of Silver Lake, Janet & (Gary) Beahm of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren, Amy & (Eric) Heath, Dublin, Ireland, Greg & (Stephanie) Ross, San Antonio, Texas, Matt & (Kifany) Beahm, Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Josiah, Ellie, Sophia, Zipporah Ross, Jagger & Tallulah Heath. A celebration of his life will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Sabetha United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at the church from 6 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday evening. Burial will be at the Bern Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha United Methodist Church or the Strive Scholarship Fund at Washburn University Foundation, both may be sent in care of the Dishon- Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
