Obituary- Lynde, Elmer 2
Elmer Edwin Lynde
Elmer Edwin Lynde, 79, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1993, in a Topeka hospital.
He was born March 17, 1914, in Junction City, the son of Alfred and Edna Reser Lynde. Mr. Lynde married Ethelyn Hook on July 17, 1937, in Helena, Mont.
He was a contractor. He enjoyed activities with the Peoples State Bank Rollers in Rossville.
Before World War II, he worked for Golden Messenger Mine in York and Clancy, Mont. During the war, he worked as a welder in Billings, Mont. After the war, he moved to Rossville, where he owned and operated a welding shop for several years, then went into soil conservation work for 25 years. He retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Ethelyn of the home two sons, Loren Lynde Rogers and Timothy Lynde, both of Missoula, Mont.; one daughter, Mona Lynde, Topeka; two brothers, Dale Lynde, Arnold, Mo., and Raymond Lynde, Shreveport, La.; three sisters, Louise Haag, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Bertha Mae Osborn, Plains, Ks., and Iona Lee, Plains, Ks.; and five grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville, at 10 a.m. Monday; burial followed in the Rossville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ronal Monhollon, Russell Minnis, Art Campbell, Rolland Parr, Frank Webb, Bob Gentry, James Pearl and Gerald Pearl.
