Vernon J. Cress

Vernon J. Cress, 48, Mayetta, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. He had cancer.
Mr. Cress was a Topeka Capital- Journal carrier. His route was be¬tween Topeka and Morrowville.
He was an Ar¬my veteran, hav¬ing served in a Military Police de¬tachment.
He was born July 31, 1939, at Horton, the son of Joe and Geneva Christ Cress. He spent most of his life in the Mayetta community.
Mr. Cress was a member of May¬etta Community Church and the Bi¬ble Study group at the church.
Survivors include his father, Joe Cress, Mayetta; and two brothers, his twin, Verlon Cress, Delia, and Donald Cress, Kingman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mayetta Community Church. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to May¬etta Community Church or to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Kansas State Bank, Holton, 66436. Mercer Funeral Home in Hol¬ton is in charge of arrangements.
