Mrs. Anna Nozhackum
Mrs. Anna Nozhackum, 73, Route 2, Mayetta, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital where she was admitted Sept. 4. She had diabetes.
She was born July 4, 1903, at Horton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Cook, and spent most of her life in the Mayetta community. She was a member of the Kickapoo Indian Tribe.
She was employed by Seymour Foods in Topeka before she retired in 1962. She was a member of the Drum relgiion.
She was married to Charles Nozhackum Aug. 18, 1924. He survives.
Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Freda Wabaunsee, Delia, Mrs. Marcella Hernandez, Seneca, Mrs. Maxine Ramirez, 1019 N. Jefferson, Mrs. Charlene Padilla, Sabetha, and Mrs. Phyllis Vega, Mayetta; a son, Chris Puckee, Las Vegas, Nev.; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Tribal religious services will be Sunday evening in the Community Building west of Mayetta. Burial will be in Dance Ground Cemetery west of Mayetta. Mercer Funeral Home at Holton is in charge of arrangements.
