Obituary- Nozhackum, Charles
Charles Nozhackum
MAYETTA— Charles Nozhackun [sic Nozhackum], 85, Mayetta, died Friday at a Topeka convalescent center where he had lived since 1976.
He was born March 10, 1895, on the Potawatomi Indian Reservation in Jackson County, the son of Mexico and Nah-Ah-Gah-Quah Nozhackun. He lived in the Mayetta community most of his life.
Mr. Nozhackun worked at Mangus Metal, Topeka, until he retired in 1963.
He was a member of Prairie Band, Potawatomi.
He was married to Anna Cook Aug.
18,1924. She died Oct. 23,1966.
Survivors include five daughters, Freda Wabaunsee, Delia, Marcella Hernandez, Seneca, Maxine Ramarez and Phyllis Vega, both of Mayetta, and Charlene Padilla, Sabetha; an adopted son, Chris Puckee, Las Vegas, Nev.; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Indian Drum services will be Sunday evening at the Charles Nozhackun residence six miles west of Mayetta. Burial will be in Dance Ground Cemetery, west of Mayetta. Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, is in charge of arrangements.
