Obituary- Olejnik, Edward
Edward Olejnik
Rossville - Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys for Edward Olejnik, 75, Rossville, who died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at a Topeka hospice house.
He was born Jan. 31, 1926, north of Rossville, to George and Rosie Hejtmanek Olejnik. He spent his early life in the Rossville community and attended Victor 101 School. He was a farmer and a mechanic and had worked for Oldsmobile, Chevrolet and Ford dealerships. He moved in 1963 to Holton where he worked for the John Deere farm implement dealership before he retired in 1988. He lived in Rossville since Jul 2000.
He was a member of ZCBJ Lodge No. 128 in Rossville.
He married Greta Polson on Oct. 6, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Smatla, Oskaloosa, and Judy Smith, Topeka; two brothers, Henry Olejnik, Delia, and William Olejnik, Rossville; four sisters, Helen Donly, St. Joseph, Mo., and Josephine Pressgrove, Georgianne Davis and Agnes Wike, all in Topeka; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be in Czech-Moravian Cemetery north of Rossville. Mr. Olejnik will lie in state from 2 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
