Obituary- Olejnik, Henry 2
Olejnik
Henry Olejnik, 88, Delia, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born March 5, 1916, near Rossville, the son of George and Rosie Hejtmanek Olejnik. He grew up in the Rossville community and attended Victor No. 101 School. He had lived in the Delia and Rossville communities all his life.
Mr. Olejnik served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Africa, where he was wounded in ac¬tion. He returned to Walter Reid Hospital in Washington, D.C., to recover from his wounds and was later discharged. He owned and op¬erated a Mobil service station, had been a mechanic for an IH dealer and worked many years at the Kaw Dehydrator, all in Rossville. He later worked for Western Foundry in Topeka as a welder, and he farmed.
He was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church and the ZCBJ Lodge No. 128.
He married Elvara L. Mitchell on April 17, 1945, in Topeka. She died June 26, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Moreland, Weston, Mo.; a brother, William Olejnik, Ross¬ville; four sisters, Josephine Pressgrove, Georgianne Davis and Agnes Wike, all of Topeka, and Helen Donelly, St. Joseph, Mo.; two granddaughters, Shannan Eagen and Natalie Moreland; and four great¬grandchildren, Seth, Logan Rebecca, Grant and Quinn Eagen.
Funeral services were held Mon¬day afternoon at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial was in the Czech Moravan Cemetery.
