Obituary- Olson, Delbert 2
DELBERT W. OLSON
Delbert W. “Deb” Olson, 74, Rossville, died Friday, January 2, 1987, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mr. Olson was a farm laborer in Wabaunsee, Pottawatomie and Shawnee counties. He also was a mechanic at St. Marys and later operated Olson’s Garage in Rossville, for 25 years. He was caretaker of the Rossville Cemetery from 1976 to 1984. He was a mechanic for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Minnesota from 1935 to 1938.
He was born April 6, 1912, at Dover, the son of Alfred and Anna Mae Boyles Olson.
Mr. Olson was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville, and of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, St. Marys.
He was married to Gladys R. Allen in 1933. She died in 1935. He was married to Arabell “Peggy” Bean in 1944. She died in 1966. He was married to Mary Bennett July 19, 1974, at Alma. She survives. A son, Kenneth Olson, and a grandson, Kenneth Olson, Jr., also preceded him in death.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Immenschuh, Rossville; three step-daughters, Mrs. Darlene Harris and Mrs. Judi Merriman, Topeka, and Mrs. Mary G. Homan, St. Marys; two step-sons, Kenneth Bennett, Rossville, and Gale Bennett, Topeka; four grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and eight step- great- grandchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Rusty Immenschuh, Rod Homan, Randy Bennett, Mark Bennett, John Merriman, Danny Dechand, Louie LeMay and Scott Bennett.
