Obituary- Olson, Mary 1

Mary Bennett Olson
ROSSVILLE — Mary Bennett Olson, 84, Rossville, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at a Rossville nursing home.

Mrs. Olson had worked at Presbyterian Manor in Topeka and she cleaned houses in St. Marys and Rossville. She also had worked in restaurants in St. Marys.

She was born Aug. 15,1912, the daughter of Hugh and Grace Hoiser Morris. She was reared at Blaine and was graduated from Blaine High School in 1929.

Mrs. Olson was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville and the Circle at the church. She also was a member of the People’s State Bank High Rollers Club.

She married Leo C. Bennett on June 20, 1932, at Blaines. He died Jan. 22, 1970. She married Delbert “Deb” Olson on July 19, 1974, at Alma. He died Jan. 2, 1987. Mrs. Olson also was preceded in death by two grandsons.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Homan, St. Marys, and Judi Merriman, Topeka; two sons, Kenneth Bennett, Rossville, and Gale Bennett, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Rossville. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery at St. Marys. Mrs. Olson will lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Building Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
