Obituary- Orsborn, Charlotte

Charlotte H. Orsborn
WAMEGO- Charlotte Honor Orsborn, 91, Wamego, died late Friday, Aug. 4, 1989, at a Wamego nursing home.

Mrs. Orsborn and her husband retired in 1976 from farming near Laclede and moved to Wamego. She taught at Aristie School before she was married.

She was born Aug. 13, 1897, in Delia, the daughter of William Harmon and Selena Tresize Brown. She had lived in Valley Vista Nursing Center since 1985.

Mrs. Orsborn was a member of Laclede Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Wamego Historical Society, Mayflower Society and Harold Johnson Unit No. 172 of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of Wamego Chapter No. 76 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Jayhawk Club and was active for 50 years in extension work.

She was married to Lawrence Orsborn on April 27, 1921, at her parents’ farm near Delia. He died Nov. 7, 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Iris Dewhirst, Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Merle Orsborn, Hutchinson, Dr. Lloyd Orsborn, Tucson, Ariz., and Harmon Orsborn, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; a sister, Gladys Brown, Topeka; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Stewart Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Orsborn will lie in state after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Vista Nursing Center.
