Obituary- Parnell, Golda

Golda A. Parnell
SENECA – Golda A. Parnell, 92, Seneca, died Saturday, April 15, 1995, at a Seneca nursing home.

Mrs. Parnell and her husband farmed south of Goff prior to 1927 when they moved to a farm in the Ford Community near Seneca. She worked in the kitchen at the Gilford Hotel and at the Winterscheidt café during the 1950’s.

She was born June 12, 1902, on a farm southeast of Seneca, the daughter of Charles R. and Lora A. Moore Bales. She attended Lincoln School.

Mrs. Parnell was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Seneca and the Women’s Fellowship at the church.

She was married to Nicholas “Dick” Parnell on June 9, 1926, at Reserve. He died May 24, 1985. A daughter, Evelyn Lindeen, died May 11, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Galen Parnell, Topeka, and Charles Parnell, Rossville; a daughter, Isla R. Andrick, Maple Hill; a sister, Mildred Giesel, Bern; a grandchild; 12 great-grand-children; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca. Burial will be in Seneca City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Seneca or to the Capper Foundation in Topeka and sent in care of the family.
