Obituary- Parr, Cyrene

Mrs. Parr Succumbs to Paralytic Stroke
Mrs. Cyrene M. Parr, aged 60 years, 2 months and 7 days, wife of A. J. Parr, passed away at 11 o'clock last Friday evening, at the family home on the corner of Orange and Perry streets, after an illness of several weeks from paralysis.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Rossville Christian church, conducted by the Rev. G.G. Horne, of Topeka, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Rossville cemetery.

Cyrene M. Holter was born in Meggs county, near Pomery, Ohio, April 29, 1857. At the age of eighteen she came to Kansas in the year of 1875. For two years after her arrival she taught school at DeSoto, Kansas, then gave up teaching to enter the state university at Lawrence where she completed the course as offered at that time.

On March 19, 1879 she was united in marriage to Andrew Jackson Parr at Lawrence, Kans., and soon after they moved to Shawnee county, and made this community their home for the past 44 years.

At an early age Mrs. Parr united with the United Brethren church in Ohio, but in May 8, 1908, she united with the local Christian church, under the Ministry of J. Ira Junes and had been consistent member of this faith until her death.

She leaves to mourn her decease her husband and five children, Mrs. Grace Pederson, of Topeka; Mr. G. A. Parr, of Kansas City; Mr. L.O. Parr, Silver Lake; Miss Blanche Parr and Mr. A. S. Parr of Rossville.
