Obituary- Parr, Josiah 1

JOSIAH A. PARR

Josiah A. Parr, 79, a prominent and pioneer farmer of Rossville, died Friday at his home southwest of Rossville.

Mr. Parr was born in Indiana, October 29, 1864. He came to Kansas with his parents in a covered wagon when he was one year old. They settled at Topeka. Fifty-five years ago he married and settled on the farm where he spent his life.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie B. Parr; three sons, Shirley O. Parr, John D. Parr and Joe Parr Jr., all of Rossville; one sister, Mrs. Martha Taylor, Bryan, Texas; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Charles F. and Kathrine R. preceded him in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Parr celebrated their golden wedding anniversary six years ago this November 25. Mrs. Minnie Pugh, who sat With Mrs. Parr during the funeral service had stood with them at their wedding 55 years ago.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. W. E. Dull of Topeka. Music was furnished by Mrs. Ruth Hesse and Mrs. Mildred Berry. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Glenn Parr, Nathaniel Parr, Joe D. Parr, Rolland Parr, Marlin Harth and Leroy Parr.

Out-of-town relatives and friends here to attend the funeral service of Mr. J. A. Parr were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Butterfield Mr. and Mrs. Walter Welton, Miss Ella Welton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lang, Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Parr, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wherry, Mr. and Mrs. S.V. Kincaid, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hawks, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Welch, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Binney, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Kelsey, Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Marney, Mrs. Katherine Haines, Mrs. Nanny Wilson, Miss Minnie Pugh, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bush, Mrs. Chester Pratt, Miss Anna Mae Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Parr and son, Mr. Frank Renyer, Mr. Ben Ford, Mrs. Frank Welton, Mr. Melvin Kelsey, Mr. Earl Bean, all of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Parr, Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Harth, both of Kansas City; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Reed and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wade, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Miller, Mr. Bill Weir Mr. Albert Hahn and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harth, all of Silver Lake.


Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Harth and children from Kansas City came out Saturday called by the death of her grandfather, Joe Parr, Sr.
