Leroy Parr
Leroy Charles Tee” Parr, 81, Topeka, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Parr farmed and raised cattle near Rossville and then near Delia with his father and brother. He served on the Farmers Cooperative board at St. Marys and was vice chairman of the Shawnee County ASC Committee in 1964. He also was elected Lincoln Township treasurer several times.
He was born April 1920, in Rossville, the son of Ray and Edna Immenschuh Parr. He graduated from Rossville High School and attended Emporia State College.
Mr. Parr was a camber of Rossville Presbyterian Church and later the Delia Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was a member of Hesperian Lodge Mo. 111 in Rossville and served as master of the lodge in various years. He was district deputy grand master for District No. 20 in 1953 and served as worthy patron of the Eastern Star at Rossville. He transferred membership to Delia Lodge No. 419 in 1969 and was a member of the Delia Lions Club.
Mr. Parr coached PeeWee baseball in Rossville and was a 4-H community project leader. He played on the Delia, Cross Creek and Rossville town baseball teams for several years.
He married Wanda June Keller on Dec. 28, 1946. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jane Parr, Ponte Verde Beach, Fla., and Janice Nash, Arlington, Texas; a son, KelLee Parr, Topeka; a brother, Duane Parr, Rossville; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Parr will lie in state after noon Friday at the mortuary where visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday.
