Obituary- Parr, Lester 1
Lester O. Parr Dies in Topeka
Lester 0. (Jack) Parr, 4821 W. 21st, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient 11 weeks.
Mr. Parr had been president of Silver Lake State Bank since 1943.
He was born at Rossville and was graduated from Rossville High School. He was employed at the Rossville State Bank from 1912 to 1917. He began work as a cashier at the Silver Lake State Bank a few years later.
He was an Army veteran of World War I, having been a member of Company H of the 353rd Infantry in the 89th Division.
He was a member of the Silver Lake Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, at SilŽver Lake. He was a member of Scottish Rite bodies, Arab Shrine and Ancient Toltec Rite, all in Topeka.
He was a past patron of Loyal Chapter No. 176, Order of Eastern Star, at Silver Lake and was a member of District No. 20 of Past Matrons and Patrons of Order of Eastern Star. He was a 50-year member of ModŽern Woodmen of America and was a member of the Lions Club at Silver Lake.
He was a member of the Kansas Bankers Assn., and in 1964 was elected to membership in the 50-year club of the American Bankers Assn.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Esther Parr, at home; and two sisters, Mrs. Grace M. Wehry, 616 W. 6th, and Blanche A. Parr, Rossville.
Parker Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Lake Methodist Church.
