Obituary- Pelle, Paul

Paul A. Pelle
Paul E. Pelle was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, August 12th, 1849, and died in Topeka, Kan., June 1, 1933, being 83 years, 9 months, and 19 days of age.

He came to America when 17 years of age and later made a short visit to the land of his birth. He was a resident of Kansas for 63 years, 33 years of which time he was a merchant in Silver Lake.

Mr. Pelle, or Pete, as he was familiarly known, was member of the City Council of Silver Lake for a number of years, upon his retirement from his position as Mayor, the council and city presented him with a beautiful rocking chair which he always prized.

He was a member of Silver Lake lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen, serving as its Financier until he moved from Silver Lake to Topeka.

His wife preceded him in death 20 years ago this fall, and his son Ed, 19 years ago.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Lynn of Topeka, and a son Fred L. Pelle of San Bernardino, Calif., and two step-daughters, Mrs. Minnie VanOrsdol, of Topeka; and Mrs. Margaret Witter of Rossville.

Services were conducted by Rev. E.N. Judd at Silver Lake M.E. church, Saturday, June 3, 1933. Music was furnished by Mrs. Alden Goodno and Mrs. C.O. Shafer, with Mrs. Albert Shafer at the piano. The following friends acted as pallbearers: Ernest Landis, Everett Cutbirth, Ish Jeffries, Clarence Henry, Alden Goodno and Ross Cowperthwaite.
