Obituary- Perine, S. Douglas 2
Doug Perine
Doug Perine, 60, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at Stormont Vail Hospital.
He was born Jan. 31, 1951, in Wamego, the son of Jack Dee and Mary Jane Bledsoe Perine. Doug graduated from Wamego High School in 1969. He attended Kansas State University and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 1973.
Doug had worked at Jim’s Pharmacy in St. Marys before moving to Manhattan where he worked for Rexall Drugs at the Blue Hills Shopping Center and for Revco Discount Drugs. He opened Doug’s Pharmacy in Rossville in 1977 and later added the Flower Mart; he also had owned St. Marys Pharmacy in St. Marys for several years. Doug had lived in Rossville for many years before moving to Lake Wabaunsee. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity from 1969 until 1971. He also was a member of KPHA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Roger Nash.
On Aug. 5, 1972, he was united in marriage to Rita Baumchen at St. Marys. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Jason Perine of Rossville; a daughter, Jen Perine of Auburn; his sister, Susie Jane Nash of Phoenix, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 19 at Heritage Hall, Topeka, with interment in the Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville City Park Improvement Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, KS 66536.
