Mrs. Bessie Edith Perry
EMMETT — Mrs. Bessie Edith Per¬ry, 86, St. Mary’s, died Thursday at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Sept. 26, 1892 at Ross¬ville. She lived in Rossville until 1953 and moved to Emmett where she resid¬ed until 1971 before moving to St. Mary’s. She was a member of the Em¬mett United Methodist Church.
She was married to Walter Van Vleck who died in 1921. She was married to Richard Perry in September of 1932 at Holton. He died in March of 1964.
Survivors include four sons, Walter L. Van Vleck, 5024 Brentwood Road, Topeka, Frank E. Van Vleck, 3142 In¬diana, Topeka, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Marvin Earl Van Vleck, Athens, Ga., and Omer L. Van Vleck, Rossville; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Chilson, Federal Way, Wash., and Mrs. JoAnne Vande Velde, Emmett; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Finney, Simi Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Berna Freeman, Bakersfield, Calif.; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Mary’s. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmett United Methodist Church.
